China wishes nothing more than a peaceful solution to nuclear stand off between North Korea and the world. China has been a positive force in the organization of six-party talks toward a disarmament of North Korea’s nuclear arsenal, as China is aware of the dangers posed by a rogue nuclear nation, not only to China’s economy and China’s security, but to that of the entire pacific region and the world. Because China is the greatest power in the pacific sphere of influence, much of the responsibility to guide diplomacy has fallen on the PRC. Besides securing the safety of the region, taking a leading roll in the six-party talks has also given China increased leverage on a world stage and improved its relation with the US, which considered North Korea a member of the Axis of Evil. North Korea insists that it has need for a Nuclear arsenal in order to resist a possible United States invasion.
The six-party talks consist of diplomatic discussion regarding North Korea’s nuclear dissarmament and include North Korea, South Korea, Japan, China, Russia, and the United States of America.
